A catch-up... been a while.
So, where to start...
Still haven't heard from Brooklyn. I HAVE, however, invited them to the show I am in this weekend... A night of one-acts held through Columbia University.
This is really fun... I'm getting back on-stage, I've already met a bunch of great people and I have already jumped on board another experimental theater piece in which I'll be part of a Greek Theater-type tragic Chorus (apparently, it will most likely lead to being in the Downtown Theater Fall Season). And I have an audition for a directing showcase this weekend, also... I think. So, yeah, anyway... a lot of small opportunities to meet great people and get back into the swing of it...
As for home life, Daniel and I are trying desperately to wind down from our month of visitors and parties... What with our house-warming (after our anniversary dinner), and then Dad's visit and Lucy and Nick's visit, we are BEAT!!!!!
Dad's visit was fabulous... I posted an album of pics for you all to see. At the request of my dear father, I did not include any of the pictures I took of him looking "Daggy", "silly" or undignified... I did get some, though... It was hard not to. We had SSOOOOOOO much fun. We loved going out to Lady Liberty again. She will never cease to take our breath away. And Dad had never seen her up close, so we were all taken aback. It was a truly beautiful day, followed by an incredible walk through our old neighborhood up to our new apartment. We had a great dinner and relaxed... I don't think it's THAT bad, so, here's a pic of my Men relaxing after that GREAT day...
But, the highlight for me, of Dad's trip (I really am his Daughter, tell you what) was the fabulous final dinner we had. AMAZING food, fabulous alcohol (and plenty of it) and GREAT service - the atmosphere of the restaurant was also lovely. It was partially to celebrate his 50th and it was partially to celebrate having time together. The night was PERFECT!!!! In every way... The Men VERY much enjoyed ALL their food (in fact, Daniel stuffed himself STOOPID)
I think he had some sort of Osso Bucco - it was DIVINE!!!!!!!
And, Dad ALSO enjoyed his fish and, well, chips.
sidenote - that basket his chips are in is made of cheese - DEEP FRIED CHEESE!!!! And the most delicately seared Tuna I've ever seen...
The night truly was spectacular. My only regret... is that I didn't get a picture of Dad doing... "Napkin-Head"... for those of you who have seen the movie The Holiday, you'll know what I'm talking about. Yes, my FATHER, DOCTOR Douglas Knehans did "Napkin-Head"... I will never forget it.
Then we all went back to Dad's hotel and drunk copius amounts of Fabulous vodka he'd bought in Europe... STRAIGHT!!!! Here is evidence of my Father getting my Husband intoxicated... another sight I won't soon forget...
We were happy, though. It was a great night.
It was a fabulous trip... and one Daniel and I will both hold very dear to our hearts for ever.
No sooner had Dad left, than our good friends from Sydney (who now live in Manchester), Lucy and Nick arrived!!!! And what a week ensued!!!!! But I'll have to tell you all about that next time. I need to get to the theatre.
Love to you ALL!!!! As always.
Miss and love you.
Taliesen.
