Update... very exciting...
OK... I know I still owe you all a 4th of July Entry... it will come... but for the moment... NEWS!!!
I am just really excited because I a SECOND job interview tomorrow afternoon (they just called me)...
I know, I know... this has come out of the blue... was Taliesen even looking for work???
Well, no, is the answer to that...
But I get e-mails forwarded to me by people I've worked on shows with, mostly about auditions and occasionally about weekend work, but THIS time it was for "full-time job. Acting school. Mainly administration and assistant to the head of the school. Must have good phone manner, comfortable working with and talking to parents. Scheduling classes and taking payments".
I sent my resume because it sounded interesting and if it meant an opportunity to work with children again, YAY!!!! (anything to quell that INSANELY loud ticking of my biological clock!!!!) Not to mention my increasing dissatisfaction with the stagnation of my current job (which, while is pays well AND has great health insurance, is BORING me to DEATH 78-85% of the time)...
So, last Saturday, I had an interview at the John Robert Powers Studios with Raquel - a teacher and administrator there, as well as a working actress here in New York. We had a GREAT talk... she's the first person ever to say (not once but THREE times) that she was impressed by my resume, AND also by my degree (now, THAT one I've never heard)... We talked more about the position, which would pay around the same as I'm getting, maybe not with health insurance though... The hours would be flexible, usually starting after lunch and working till dinner, leaving time for me to go to auditions in the morning, she said. Not to mention having an inside to the WHOLE industry, meeting and becoming on first-name basis's with agents and casting directors both here and in LA. The job would involve giving advice to young actors and their parents who may know little to nothing about the theatre or film industries and helping to organize twice a year a MASSIVE showcase/conference they hold in LA for young actors and everyone that may want to meet them!!!
So, we got along like a house on fire, she seemed really keen to get me in to meet the Head of the School, Gladys...
So, today, I get a phone call from Gladys, asking me to come in tomorrow and meet with her... Apparently, Raquel spoke VERY highly. Gladys has been looking at my resume and there are actually TWO positions she wants to talk to me about. She'd love to meet me as soon as possible... so, tomorrow it is...
I'm very EXCITED, everyone.... Wish me luck (that I get it, as well as that it's a fabulous opportunity). I will let you know as soon as I do, about what my future may hold...
Thanks, as always, for the positive wishes, thoughts and prayers.
We love you all, and miss you all, every day.
Love always, Taliesen!!!!!
