Finally... Our INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!
Ok... so, here it is... finally... what we did on the Fourth of July!!!!! Independence Day was a beautiful, low-key one this year... No boozing, no party, no fireworks, no bbq or sparklers.... Instead we headed for a bit of Culture!!!! The Metropolitan Museum!!!!!!!
Granted, I was still dressed the part... I mean, come on - it's the 4th of July!!!!! Got to at least dress patriotically!!!!!
I don't know where this scarf came from but I didn't buy it, Daniel didn't buy it, neither of us remember getting given it as a (albeit, gag... would have to be) gift!!!! It just showed up in our house.... A big American Flag with the words "God Bless America" emblazoned across the front!!!!! I felt wonderfully America-lovin!!!!!
So, anyway, we walked through the Park, a lovely stroll, and arrived at the Museum with enough time to pretty much go through every section (even if there were certain sections we practically RAN through, and others that transfixed us...)
I personally LOVED the Medieval Art, with this particular gate/fence thing mesmerizing me... It is actually one of those old gates from an old church that the choir or nuns used to stand behind... If you've seen (and paid attention to) The Sound of Music, you'll know what I mean.... and I LOVED it...
There was also a bunch of whole rooms, walls and all, transported for old period buildings... 400-500 year old houses... whole rooms we could walk through...
This is Daniel and I in front of a massive fireplace that was in one... I think this is an old-fashioned "Smoking Room"...
And, of course the Reflection Pool room, which Daniel and I visited last time, but Mum had never seen (not to mention that this time there was actually water in the reflection pool!!!)
We also loved the Hall of Armour... It's just amazing what these men used to walk around in, let alone FIGHT in.... Incredible!!!!

In another one of those whole-room-transported-from-somewhere rooms... I like to call this the "meeting the president" shot!!!! I don't know why they're shaking hands but I just loved this room...
And of course the Museum, it's self, is a spectacular sight... Full of halls like this that house statues and paintings... It was amazing!!!!!
And, I feel I should point out, the BEST part of the Met was the rooftop bar!!!! Fabulous views, fabulous drinks, and fabulous experience.... Mum's friend Sandy insisted we see it and I second that to anyone visiting New York!!!! Mum and I got Mojito's (which I believe in Australia, we call a Caprioska...) and Daniel his old trusty Corona!!!! We enjoyed the view and eachother's company... It was perfect!!!!!
Overlooking all of Central Park, one kind of feels on top of the world (even though, it's not that high up) and the sky was beautiful, about to storm!!! Pointing out buildings we like and enjoying drinks!!!!!

I did, however, discover that the downside of wearing a backless (or tie in the back so, almost backless) top is that people have a desire to put cold beer bottles against your bare skin... causing you to make faces... like... this....
At least Daniel resisted temptation... although he had caught the first attempt on film, so....
The below photo I just put up because.... LOOK HOW BLUE MY EYES LOOK!!!!!! Yayyyyy!!!!!
And as if aaalllllllllllllll of that wasn't fun enough.....
We then went to Little Italy for dinner and had the most delicious meal down there...
Good wine, and a lot of relaxed talking and laughing!!!!! It was fabulous!!!!!
Mum (who is now able to eat cheese and drink wine again) had a GREAT meal, and the environment was so lovely... Very family-run and friendly... It was a really great night and one I will treasure the memory of for EVER!!!!! But by the end of this long day, after the week that we'd had (see previous entries) we were ALL exhausted, as you can see here...
And, with that we went home... in time to see some of the fireworks on TV (at 9:30pm) and snuggle up in our jammies... It was a perfect day... from beginning to end...
And THAT is how Taliesen and Daniel Farmer spent their SECOND Fourth of July in America.
peeeerrrrrrfectttt!!!!!
